Craig Green x
It’s taken a while to track down the designer of this coat..
Not surprising: It’s from an SS15 menswear collection…and is a rather nice – rare? example of an element of power women have in fashion…we have the most choice clothes-wise, nothing is forbidden or taboo..and then, when a talented, new menswear designer does turn up…we snuffle him up as well..
Wise women that we are…
This is all the work of 27 year old Central Saint Martins graduate Craig Green who debuted his first solo runway show in London..where the unthinkable happened..tears and cheers from the notoriously fickle fashion pack..and women running after him waving their gold-plated credit cards..
It’s easy to see the appeal..his work conjures up such contradictions as mesonic and pagan, protective yet vulnerable..layers versus movement..
But I just like it when functional clothes are plundered – fencing uniforms, riding clothes, army uniforms..let’s face it, any uniform..and the fact that it’s padded. I also revel in the joy that women know exactly what they like, and have no qualms stealing it as their own..
I just wish I had one…

MiH Magic x
MiH, the original British jean brand have brought out their easy wear, always stare SS15 Collection.
With their love of denim and lashings of groovy inspiration, their designs are classic, pragmatic, clever and very independent.
You really sense it’s an high energy, slow process with thought and quality poured in.
They catch the nostalgic vibe of pre-mass market, when things were built to last and gently soften in the sun, improving with age and use.
To be worn collecting sea-shells on a sandy beach..or blinged up with statement jewellery at a posh party in London.
They work.
Wholesome, exhilarating food for the eyes, I can eat it all standing up…and always want more.

Hey, Goodlooking..
Chloe SS15: If the seventies are being re-invented for Summer 2015, then the detail is in the pockets..large, luscious and lovely..
Groovy threads to hang loose and take you to the maxi..
Far out ‘n’ foxy..
Dream on, cool beans with peace, love and harmony..
Catch you on the flipside for a boogie..

Dolce and Delicious x
I have a sentimental weakness for the advertising campaigns of Dolce & Gabbana and the way they always manage to capture charisma, lust and a sense of humour, all tied up with the rich heat of the mediterranean – much needed in these bone-chilling, frosty days of January (there’s even a rumour of snow today..)
There’s a tangy taste of the world, new and old (which is probably best not analysed too closely..who knew that Sicily was so rich in the tradition of Flamenco?) But the silhouettes are delicious..
However, the true stars of the show are the Nonnas, even modelling pop socks that steal the limelight..
Bright eyed, worldly-wise..and having the time of their lives..I bet they could cook a up mean pasta..
I want to be there. Like now.

Dancing Queen x
There’s a theme emerging: Timelessness is now, meaning pick something from the seventies..and it will immediately look cool and new..
Saddle bags (referring to handbags..), flares, midi denim skirts, large sunnies, colour and wacky print..it’s a heady combination..
And Gucci – a stalwart of the fashion world, but not a label that hits the hip headlines – has captured the look to perfection..
Beautiful, strange and compelling..
But already feels familiar..
With a little touch of acid..

Food for Thought..
Much of the work of Marques’Almeida nibbles on an old drumstick: Denim – which doesn’t stop it being the sartorial rage of the moment..
It plays to that thrilling duality of grunge and deconstruction meeting designer brand.
But this denim is smarter, sharper… fruitier..
Straight talking boxy shapes that still hold a seductive allure.
And if you didn’t know already, they’re doing a collab with Top Shop on the 10 November..one for the diary..

Check out those sleeves – It may be a drumstick – but it’s a top of the range organic one cooked sublimely in a heavenly sauce by a caring Michelin starred chef..

Stellar Star x
When was the last time you saw something so smart it made your head spin?
Stella Jean as that rare ability to turn what we would look at and think is promisingly awful and turn it into proud peacocks of the fashion world.
Each looks is a wonder, with the clever use of stripes pulling it all together like the ribbons on a babies bonnet.
Stella Jean is prepared to do things that could completely trip her up…but instead she reaches that heady sweet spot of awe.
Just stunning.

Each item is a wonder and a rich blast of laughter laden exotic air…

A Pearl x
Preppy-sports-lux flavours Mother of Pearl SS15, stylishly crossing all sorts of nostalgic and modern borders with ease.
A step away from the bold, bright prints of previous seasons there’s something effortless about this simple combination of cut and colour that quietly sings of contentment and inner confidence.
Even when a bit of ooomph is brought to the party..
Clothes to wear around the house, at work, on a date..or just for the heck of it. Mother of Pearl has found her person and knows her well – I for one, can’t look away.
