Dolce and Delicious x
I have a sentimental weakness for the advertising campaigns of Dolce & Gabbana and the way they always manage to capture charisma, lust and a sense of humour, all tied up with the rich heat of the mediterranean – much needed in these bone-chilling, frosty days of January (there’s even a rumour of snow today..)
There’s a tangy taste of the world, new and old (which is probably best not analysed too closely..who knew that Sicily was so rich in the tradition of Flamenco?) But the silhouettes are delicious..
However, the true stars of the show are the Nonnas, even modelling pop socks that steal the limelight..
Bright eyed, worldly-wise..and having the time of their lives..I bet they could cook a up mean pasta..
I want to be there. Like now.

La Vita e Bella..
Spring has really sprung in London..you can almost leave the house without a coat… it means all I want to do is pour myself into summer…
It doesn’t help that the Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer advertising campaign has cherry picked everything my heart is yearning for…
The effervescence of the simple life – the joy of cooking with fresh ingredients, the passion of creating, the aroma of flowers and fruit ripening in the sun, blue skies and al fresco suppers in the garden…the extra long brown legs don’t help either (where I can find them and how much do they cost?!) all sharpened up with a hint of Mafia.
There’s a haunting beauty that’s still grounded in the past, capturing a time when there was time to roam and relax into natural rhythms..
There’s still laughter and fun..the fluidity of life rushing on the slow side with everything in broad strokes.
I want to hold it like a snow globe and treasure it forever..

La Dolce Vita..

When I looked at Dolce &Gabbana SS14 for the first time I could feel the bright sun of Sicily and the shadows of a lemon tree flickering above. There was cherry blossom. luscious gold jewellery, lazy lunches, fresh homemade pasta and carafes of wine.

So it’s always fascinating to see the magazines then take the clothes and present them to us within the spirit of their publication.

They have the resources to create another glossy world…to give us the chance to hold a physical dream in our hands.

Like the Sirens on the cliffs they call us saying, just by re-mortgaging your house you too can be like me…Or…are they works of Art in their own right? Adding subtle layers of message and mystery..
It’s your call.

Spring Edition x
The February edition of UK Vogue landed with a plump thud on my doormat yesterday. Such a thrill to flick through the pages and drink in the professional visuals. I always have to look through first..then I read, starting from the back, last article first. Lord knows why, it might be something to do with being left handed, but that’s the way I like it. There’s a feeling of freedom and stepping away from the norm..which is what this edition is all about…enjoy the mismatching matching, the return of colour and the championing of the midi, whether it be in skirts or trousers. Pure lush.
