Duro Olowu x
London based Nigerian designer Duro Olowu has his own unique aesthetic.
Prints inform the story, but you don’t have to choose between smart and boho..
He has a mastery for mixing colour and pattern, but there’s still sub clause stacked against sub clause. He says: ‘I have always believed that a garment is irresistible not only because of the label but rather because of the love and attention in it’s composition.’
He makes it easy to keep your cool with a simple shot of bright energy.
And creates clothes that love the female form.
Oh how I’d love to see Kate Middleton in this one..

His clothes sing like a mezzo soprano over an African drum beat, gently crooning there’s nothing shallow about feeling good, confidence is the most attractive thing – just go out and have fun..

La Vita e Bella..
Spring has really sprung in London..you can almost leave the house without a coat… it means all I want to do is pour myself into summer…
It doesn’t help that the Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer advertising campaign has cherry picked everything my heart is yearning for…
The effervescence of the simple life – the joy of cooking with fresh ingredients, the passion of creating, the aroma of flowers and fruit ripening in the sun, blue skies and al fresco suppers in the garden…the extra long brown legs don’t help either (where I can find them and how much do they cost?!) all sharpened up with a hint of Mafia.
There’s a haunting beauty that’s still grounded in the past, capturing a time when there was time to roam and relax into natural rhythms..
There’s still laughter and fun..the fluidity of life rushing on the slow side with everything in broad strokes.
I want to hold it like a snow globe and treasure it forever..

La Dolce Vita..
(Lara Stone, Vogue France Mar 14)
When I looked at Dolce &Gabbana SS14 for the first time I could feel the bright sun of Sicily and the shadows of a lemon tree flickering above. There was cherry blossom. luscious gold jewellery, lazy lunches, fresh homemade pasta and carafes of wine.

So it’s always fascinating to see the magazines then take the clothes and present them to us within the spirit of their publication.
( Fioia Italy Feb 14)
They have the resources to create another glossy world…to give us the chance to hold a physical dream in our hands.

Like the Sirens on the cliffs they call us saying, just by re-mortgaging your house you too can be like me…Or…are they works of Art in their own right? Adding subtle layers of message and mystery..
It’s your call.

Edun Mark 2 x
The most attractive thing is always talent.
Danielle Sherman Creative Director of Edun is, season by season creating and expanding the visual language of this ethical label.
Building it block by block – the inspiration Africa, the journey a clear path: Her palette is clean, simple and continuous which means that like the materials she uses, pieces can be woven together.
Take her SS14 Collection..everything can be seamlessly added as an extra, rich layer – more shapes to play with. More weather changes to adapt to. It’s clever, it’s thoughtful. It’s sustainable in your wardrobe.
She answers ‘Who am I?’ before ‘What shall I buy?
And 85% of the this Season was made in Africa.
Unlike Karl, Danielle gets the sneaker aesthetic to perfection.
Simple but with intelligent, creative twists – a juxtaposition here, the unexpected there. She’s not trendy..she’s effortless.

Rachel Comey x
Rachel Comey is a Master in the art of adding loose without adding weight.
So maybe it’s not surprising that she originally started out by designing Menswear. She swapped to Womenswear inspired by the number of women sneaking into the Menswear section to buy her clothes. She’s never looked back.
She looks to the past and is inspired by vintage with little sips of rebellion.
It’s not about showily declaring yourself.
But rather great riches in small spaces.

Come to me Celine
Intuition and imagination: Celine SS14: Inventively combining shape, texture and colour.
I’m getting refrences back to the eighties: Graffiti, large shoulders and baggy jumpers.
But in a clever move, that was then. This is now.
The details are absorbingly laid out. Where to look?
Peeling back the details. Adding the eyebrows.
