Anything Goes..
There’s no getting away from it – part of the breathless anticipation of any Fashion Week are the Street Style photos of the good, the bad and the fabulous pretending they’re unaware they’re the players in their own performance.
An unfortunate accident? Or the latest accessory?
Because ultimately, even with this small number of elite beings, they’ll only be a select few who can really tick the boxes and dress the way you want to feel.
But they still all know to carry themselves with extreme confidence, no matter what they feel like inside..and as perception becomes more important than truth it makes these some of the most interesting, schizophrenic moments to secretly observe.
We’re no longer in the land of princesses. What we wear, even to posh events is becoming more generalised, more ‘every day’. Which is why these flashes of inspiration are so important – they’re within our grasp.
But innovative and desirable is still the holy grail.

The pictures tell us: To change our spots, all we need to do is change our skins. Essentially, they give us hope.

It’s coming…
The rumblings started around 2011 when Hermes walked this one down the runway..
Givenchy did a little number too.
And the odd street style star picked up the vibe.
But this year the noise is getting louder..Spotted at The Row’s Pre-fall 2014 Collection..
Tory Burch SS14, did it more than once..
And now Chanel?
Maybe it’s all been about branding…’Bum’ bag is really such an ugly word. But ‘hipster’ ‘Belt bag’? Far more class..
Mine is permanently attached to my side whether it’s cross body or as a belt bag. Not just because I like the look..but it’s just so practical as well..Compared to the eighties we’re now in the land of miniature and everything fits in perfectly.
All hail the return! Long may it last!

Springing Ahead..
Spotted! – The first Snowdrops.
Let’s be honest, haute couture is something we observe and aspire to but more often than not it’s the High Street where we spend our money. Thankfully in the UK the two are virtually joined at the hip, fused together in taste, habits, socks and everything else, meaning that many of the clothes available to us mere mortals are just as sleek and lush as their designer relatives. Take these from the quintessentially British Jigsaw: Following the trends and perfect for Spring…the blue diffused silk flower top and the purple digital print floral scarf.

Combined together they sing the song of bold pattern and colour clashes. Add the precision cut Melton coat and a classic satchel..
Plus a pair of 3/4 length, loose boyfriend jeans and pair of emerald green kitten heels…
And it’s a rich thread of satisfaction…

A walk in the Woods..
Did you have a lovely Christmas? I hope so!
Spot my new baby..yep..a Hipsters for Sisters leopard bag as drooled over here..and I LOVE it! Versatile, accommodating and a true thrill to wear..the belt option is GENIUS…but it’s so easy to wear cross body as well…love, love, LOVE!
One happy bunny!
We spent yesterday taking the Blanket Coat for a walk, enjoying the blue skies (after all our storms) and blowing some cobwebs at Richmond Park..
You’d never guess we were still in London..
We played poo sticks (I lost).
Saw a woodpecker..
And stood under a parrot tree! (Not for too long..)
Till the dusk came down and it was time to head home..
To a roaring fire and left-over Christmas pudding…heaven!

R.I.P Packhorse..
My beloved buggy is no more. Held together by cellotape for the last few months, it has finally given it’s last hurrah and collapsed in a little metallic heap.
Not surprising given the extensive tours of duty it’s performed over the years. And truth be told, for much of this year it hasn’t even been used as a buggy really except for the odd sneaky sleepy…
Instead I’ve been that mad woman walking the streets of South West London pushing my vacant buggy like an unaccepting empty-nester. We got attached Buggy and me..he became my ever-faithful ever-there friend getting me and my clobber from a to b in relative safety..picnic stuff/blankets/cricket bits/footballs/school bags/swimming/gym kits/shopping..buggy did the lot with never so much as a word of complaint, saving my sanity, shoulders and let’s be honest..multiple trips to the chiropractor.
So what am I to do now? I can’t carry this lot..I swear most people drive to the school because of the amount stuff required on a day to day basis. I don’t want to drive to the shops or order on the internet either, I get little enough time to exercise as it is..and I’m rather proud that in the urban sprawl that is London we actually do more walking than the majority of our country friends.
So is it wrong to be thinking of getting a trolley? (she whispers very quietly) Can I break the old woman stereotype? Is there a fresh, modern perspective on the art of lugging?
There is this option I’ve found that looks pretty/traditional (picture with plaid picnic rug and warm baguette peaking out..she urges in hope..) ..even if it would take up half the hall…and is’t waterproof.
Or this ..ugly..but cheap and sort-of practical?
Or these, playing the trump card of up-cycling, they’re made from old cement bags and not bad at £39.99 a pop. Bit more street cred? Or am I sadly kidding myself?
I found this one made from an old sail…at bit more expensive at £85.00..but?…. still granny?

Or this one made in Spain by Rolser where they have cobbled streets (it has to last and they swear it does)..it’s £66 and folds up as a shoulder bag till you need the wheels..then ‘ping’ …trolley!..an acceptable-face-saving-vaguely-trendy-compromise?
What do you think? Which would you choose? Would you choose? Help!

Quaker Style..
Notice the new style it bags lining the pavements of fashion week?
Petite, cross body, slung under jackets? Casual nonchalance at it’s best. But to copy? Hmmm..Just feels too sheeple…and besides, I think there’s a step beyond…
The pictures made me think about the ugliest, most useful bag I have..an old black bumbag that’s proved it’s weight in gold when the kids were tiny and I was in the land of buggies..easy to slip on and off the handles or, when the buggy was parked, clip round waist and have vital use of arms to stop World War Three and wandering toddlers. And the brucie bonus? I never lost my keys. Or purse. Or baby wipes. Or children..damn it.
But it didn’t exactly have a street edge. So I’ve re-discovered my paints (which I’ve been meaning to do for a long time) and drawn the bag of my dreams..the one I could multitask with everyday life but also take on holiday safe in the knowledge everything was unlosable.
Except I didn’t need to – This site: www.hipstersforsisters (the gorgeous picture above and those below are theirs) is dedicated to stylish belt bags. A far better name don’t you think? They are based in the States but thankfully do International shipping.
Which means it’s now on the top of my Christmas list. Sigh. Particularly as they masquerade as a crossbody and clutch as well.
