Greece 2018
What better way to embrace the autumn than with memories from the summer..the following are a few of the best from our soujourn in Greece where if there’s a theme running through it’s crystal water and the beauty of clouds. And the fact that for a whole month my kids only wore one swimming costume…

Feeling the long days of summer stretching out in a creative dessert? Brain cells fried and inspiration running dry? Let me introduce you to this intriguing little video, particularly if you’re contemplating decorating a kids bedroom in the near future..
Basically it’s a Japanese art form made modern in a fun, accessible way. As much in the world is shrinking, these glorified Washi Tapes have grown and the plain colours can be baught in the UK for a pocket pleasing £11 for a 10m roll. The patterned ones are considerably more, which is a shame, at £63 a roll but both seem easy to use..and simple to remove. I can’t do a link on my iPad, but google, Haru..
Time to get stuck in?!

Inside out x
We celebrated all that is great about the summer last week with a safari supper in our street – everyone met for drinks at the start, then we all divided into different dinner parties with each course at a different house with different people. The whole thing was a joy. The house we started at had just renovated their garden, removing worn decking and replacing it with black and white geometric tiles, not only did they sit beautifully against the green of the garden, they totally blurred the line between inside and out.

A rather delectable statement.

Light up x
Northern Lighting, an international company based in Oslo, describe themselves as a creative force led by original ideas, in a place where traditional design seems like a thing of the past. Interesting.
Certainly each light is different and beguiling..

This has to be the perfect corridor light. Â It just wants to sit on a long, thin piece of foxed glass. Â Heaven.

Flashback x
They say the true cycle of fashion is thirty years. Â It seems a lot quicker than that to me…but maybe that’s because time is slipping through my fingers at an ever increasing rate. Â I can certainly remember this micro-trends first outing back in the eighties. Â The key then was vintage, naturally well-worn ripped mens’ 501s with classic black fishnets and either DMs or pointed flats.
(As someone who knows: The larger meshes and little toes never mix. Â Soz).

It’s half term so we’ve been busy doing very little. Â One thing we have achieved is a bit of stick weaving…a strangely satisfying art form…first you need to find a good selection on Y-shaped sticks = outside jaunt.
Then wrap each side of the Y.
To do this you tie the string on, then create a loop at the back.
Then bring the other end through the loop and pull tight.
Continue till both sides are done.
We measured two arm lengths of string for the next bit. Â (This is Bella doing her Christ the Redeemer impression)
Using a large darning needle (new it would come in useful) weave between the two sides to create the horizontal lines.
Ta-dah!
Finally weave wool in V shapes vertically from one side to the next. This is Bella’s finished creation.
Being an adult, I wanted mine tighter…therefore it’s still a work in progress…
Surprisingly satisfying.

It’s what you need when the temperature drops below freezing and the dark nights draw in…
Because Shrimps is the hot chocolate, woolly socks, slightly eccentric hygge of the winter fashion world.

Distinctive and dotty with a taste for fun, it’s a bright, cuddly light.

Hell-oween!
I did my bit for Halloween this year, complete with extra eyeballs and hairy, eyelash lips..
The house is still a building site..which could’ve made the ideal location for a spooky party, except the potential scenarios for genuine disaster and really putting the hell in halloween..so we all dressed up, my niece included and relied on others to provide the fun..
Although we did make some eyeball ice cubes..grapes with blueberries and a bit of raisen.
Or the savoury option..radish and olive.
Is it OK to say the kids looked lovely??!
Friend Jenny’s fab pumpkin..
It’s an evening the kids love..maybe because it rebels against every parental rule in the book..
Mwhaha-haaaaaaa!
