The Sales..
After the gluttony of Christmas the January Sales have to put on their best bib and tucker to draw us out again by dangling tempting morsels of true fashion aristocracy…like the chance to clutch an iconic Charlotte Olympia creation reduced from $1556 to $785..tempted?
Or fall asleep knowing these Sleeping Beauty suede pumps are yours: Magically reduced from $995 to $500…almost a steal..
All the rage and quality guaranteed: Balmain skinny leather pants – were an eye-watering $4560 now $1370..a deposit on a car..but these are Balmain!
Made for elegant entrances: MSGM wide leg side stripe pant..dress up, dress down..and down from $400 to a cool $120..
Subtle yet uber sexy, 10 Crosby Derek Lam pyjama shirt. Once $375 now a reachable $190..
Easy on the eye, easier on the wallet: 10 Crosby Derek Lam faux belted leather shorts reduced from $295 to $180..
Add a splash of provocative colour: MSGM floral printed Gazar top, was $905 now $545. You’ll certainly get noticed..
Carven has the best jumpers and this one sings on multiple levels: Colour, texture and the perfect length. Was $390 now $235. (And check out The Outnet for more woolly bargains)
Vamp style: Sergio Rossi Optikala high heeled striped sandal, were $835 now $420…temptation has a name.
An undisputed stalwart of any wardrobe: The biker jacket. This quilted version by Carven was $1995, now $1000…just think, it could be your new best friend..
True fashion will always have a price but I’ve always thought if it takes a bit of pain to gain then it rises above normality and takes on special powers that naturally envelope the wearer. On that basis I think I’d better learn the lesson…and get saving for next year…
(However, if you want to start with a simpler challenge and some group motivation for support then check out Kat the designers Blog..She’s leading the charge for spotlighted New Years resolutions and aims to keep you on the straight and narrow! Good luck!)

Feeling the Love x
How I love these sandals by Valentino! Let me count the ways..the studs are perfection, the colour sublime and the advert? So cool! – the manly hand resplendent with tattoos wearing the straps like a macho bracelet. I’ve always had a thing about Greek sandals and I’ve been lusting after a gladiator style pair since the summer. Happily I was lucky enough to receive a pair for my birthday in November, all the way from Athens from the very shop recommended by our lovely blogger Lia.
My father, looking rather Greek (he’s not, he’s Scottish (although he was born in Athens)) standing outside said shop.
Pantelis Melissonos third generation sandal-maker and designer holding my very shoe.
I’m not the only one that has loved/loves the classic, timelessness of these shoes that just get better and better with age..
So I’m now the proud owner of a pair of ancient shoes, bought in Greece through the power of the blogging world, walking in the same footsteps as many of my icons and sharing the love with one of my favourite brands. Could it get much better??
(Now all I need is the maxi-denim skirt (dropped waist Valentino style) and white-rolled Palazzo pants I can see in my head to wear with them…and of course..the sun!!)

What is Beauty?
Originally taken up by wayward adolescent youth as a symbol of rebellion Doc Martens are firmly on the list of lust.
Solid, indestructible and defiantly special things have definitely moved on from the basic bomber boot of yesteryear. Now there’s an intriguing elegance and a characterful charm to their no-nonsense appearance.
I want.
If these weren’t embossed with paisley I would buy them for The Husband for Christmas…with the paisley?..just a bit too feminine? (Never, in a million years thought I’d ever say that about DMs..).
A possible compromise..but once you’ve seen that beige leather edging in the pair above..they look almost..boring! quell horreur!!
I saw this green pair walking down the street and my eyes followed, instinctively.
And my heart turned the same colour.
Would you ever think these were a pair of Docs?
These would be treated with the same care I would give a small, cute, furry animal…

The rules of the game:

2. The party will take place on Sunday 27 October starting at 9.00am GMT but don’t worry if you’re on the other side of the world..because of all the time differences the last party went on for 2 days!
3. Write a welcoming post with ‘Welcome to the Maison Bentley Style Blog Party’ Somewhere on the page..think of it as the welcome mat to your Blog. It’ll make people feel connected and part of the fun, feel free to talk about your Blog and what people can expect to find – the last time we did this everyone experienced a huge surge in stats and followers so it’s really worth doing some house cleaning and tarting up the paintwork..have some nibbles handy and a glass of something special ready..music anyone? If you’re behind UK time, think about putting up your post Saturday night.
4. We live in a virtual world..so this is YOUR chance to wear/interior design/gourmet your food/dream the dream to WHATEVER LEVEL YOU FANCY..that little Chanel number you’ve always lusted? It’s in your wardrobe..in your taylored-to-fit size too..those Valentino shoes? On your feet! You live in in a CASTLE? REALLY? The sky is the limit..put up pictures and let us know because all you need to do is tell us in your post! And quite frankly, the more outrageous..the more outrageous! To give you an idea, this was last partie’s post.
5. This post will stay up till Saturday evening, then I will list all the participants in a new post for Sunday..and then it’s super simple..we fly around on our magic cyber carpets and visit all the names on the list…and try not to get too drunk!
Can’t wait!!

Fairytale x
Something happens every Season..
(Photo from http://www.lovelybylucy.com)
One innocuous item magically transforms into a diamond encrusted butterfly.
This year it’s the humble slip-on.
All by Mother of Pearl.
Maybe not a glass slipper..
Kenzo Vans partnership.
But they’re still having a psychedelic Cinderella moment..
..and I love it.

Heel the Love..
Tantalising autumn shoe in to-die-for oxblood by the indomitable Isabel Marant
Somtimes it can just be the little things that make the mark between a good shoe and a great shoe like the perfect colour or the way they’ve been stitched. But invariably I find there’s a gap between the shoes I see in my head and the reality of what’s available.
Take this Burberry boot..
Mouth-watering in design, colour and texture. I want this shape to wear with pencil skirts, 3/4 length trousers..but for every day?
Even my ankles would get vertigo. I need 24 hour shoes I can run in.
Why is it the more expensive the brand the higher the heel? Is it a subtle comment to say the women who can afford these shoes don’t need to work walk?, or are they hell-bent on proving that comfort and height costs special engineering and therefore more money? Except I believe that after a certain height every shoe becomes a taxi-shoe and only good for extra pain.
This autumn I want shoes with character that tell a story…a 1940s vibe mixed with a bit of 70s with a splash of growing up gentley modern elegance..I want a desert boot with a wedge heel to wear with jeans…a really masculine type with lots of stitching..
And a black pair with a brogue tassel for dresses and skirts..
I’ve found these conker coloured vintage 70s shoes that I love…
But these other two have a place reserved in my wardrobe..

And ALL the heels are 2.5 inches..
So if you know where to get any of these or similar please say..otherwise I’ll have to keep on dreaming..
