Linen
It was our anniversary a few days ago, in fact it was the first one in eighteen years we’ve ever spent apart – here’s to the next 18 being similarly fortunate. But how to mark it? The best idea seemed to be something that could stand the test of time, age gracefully, be enjoyed by both of us….and was suitably low maintenance: A complete linen bed set is an investment, but for me, it ticks all the special boxes….a bit like my husband…

Shadows
So the heatwave in the Uk continues with temperatures set to soar up again this week, but where there is light, there’s shadow, made all the more appealing when they become a true respite from a blazing sun. Add imagination to the mix and the dancing contrast transcend into magical, moving works of art.

Feeling the long days of summer stretching out in a creative dessert? Brain cells fried and inspiration running dry? Let me introduce you to this intriguing little video, particularly if you’re contemplating decorating a kids bedroom in the near future..
Basically it’s a Japanese art form made modern in a fun, accessible way. As much in the world is shrinking, these glorified Washi Tapes have grown and the plain colours can be baught in the UK for a pocket pleasing £11 for a 10m roll. The patterned ones are considerably more, which is a shame, at £63 a roll but both seem easy to use..and simple to remove. I can’t do a link on my iPad, but google, Haru..
Time to get stuck in?!

Pascale Monovoisin x
I like to think that way back, when the rules of the world were decided, there was a little subsection that was quietly written into stone which read, And for summer there will be a certain type of jewellery that will look and feel right, sing of sunshine, long days and blue skies. These pieces by Pascale Monovoisin belong to that heady group.
Is it the simplicity, the link to nature, the colours? Or is it that summer just makes choosing much easier, freer and organic?

Swimming pools
so here’s the thing…I was meant to be in the UK this week, travelling out to Greece on Friday, but in one of those schisms of life I flew out a week early, even missing the England match, but not missing the London heat.
These were a selection of mouthwatering photos designed to pre-empt the summer dream…simple, elegant beauty that looks so edible it transcends man made and manufactured…….except now I just happen to be living the reality…

Inside out x
We celebrated all that is great about the summer last week with a safari supper in our street – everyone met for drinks at the start, then we all divided into different dinner parties with each course at a different house with different people. The whole thing was a joy. The house we started at had just renovated their garden, removing worn decking and replacing it with black and white geometric tiles, not only did they sit beautifully against the green of the garden, they totally blurred the line between inside and out.

A rather delectable statement.

Three wishes..
And one of them would be to buy a summer dress from Three Graces London...
With a joyous attitude that isn’t afraid of volume, a lightness of touch and a cunning eye for cut, these dresses embody the free, unfettered spirit of summer.
Classic yet modern, these dresses have the ability to move effortless up or down social requirements, from the perfect piece for a day knocking back the Pimms on Centre Court, to a throw-over beach dress for a family holiday.
