Not cheap. But these are the dresses I could live all summer long in. Simple, free, colour and a touch of the barefoot…

Beauty without having to think. Ticks the boxes for mr.

Three wishes..

And one of them would be to buy a summer dress from Three Graces London...

With a joyous attitude that isn’t afraid of volume, a lightness of touch and a cunning eye for cut, these dresses embody the free, unfettered spirit of summer.

Classic yet modern, these dresses have the ability to move effortless up or down social requirements, from the perfect piece for a day knocking back the Pimms on Centre Court, to a throw-over beach dress for a family holiday.

Christy Dawn x

Christy Dawn produces indie pin-up pieces beautifully crafted for easy living and barefoot dancing in the golden rays of the Californian sun.

Her clothes are made with deadsotck fabrics – the left over fabrics from other fashion houses who’ve over estimated their needs: smaller supplies means smaller production runs making these dresses eco friendly near-originals handmade in LA.

For the laid back beach babe bride, her bridal section is also well worth checking out for its simple lines, lightness of touch and sheer summer elegance.

In fact Christy Dawn, with her prices of around $260 for a dress, $800 for a wedding dress is the perfect illustration of quality over quantity, buying less but buying better, her prices truly reflecting the costs involved for a genuine artisan label rather than an omnipotent big name brand with willy waving status issues.

Worth a thought.

Summer Lovin’

Loving The vyshyvanka trend but not the designer prices? Take a peek on Etsy for some authentic, investment worthy alternatives like these from BoutiqueUA.  Whilst not High Street prices, They’re much less than the thousands some labels are demanding…

Of course the 2-3 weeks it takes to ship from the Ukraine does mean it’ll probably be winter again here or at least gales, hail and torrential rain…but somethings are worth waiting for.

At Last!

And as if from nowhere the weather in London has changed to summer – 27 degrees predicted for today which proves we are a nation of extremes:  No time to wear-in sandals or pack away winter woollies before the clouds clear and brilliant sunshine pours down which means discovering where the best summer dresses are hiding is a no-brainer.

First port of call for me is always Freepeople because they manage hit a particular sweet spot and offer a high summer aesthetic that still looks good in a City or on a beach.

Their boho ranges from just thrown on hand embroidered artisan creations to the more structured you-could-even-wear-this-as-a-wedding-dress gorgeous offerings.

Dragouni x

If money were no object this would be my go-to dress for my summer hols.

Except if money were no object I could have all her other designs as well..and even pack them in a Louis Vuitton suitcase.

Loveshackfancy

Back to the boho summer dress vibe complete with straw bags, picnics and iced gin and tonics by a pool.

Loveshackfancy is New York City lifestyle brand founded in 2013 by Rebecca Hessel Cohen.

It’s creamed off the best bits of vintage inspired Victorian pieces and blended them seamlessly into a modern, timeless style.

It’s a label that creates an overwhelming urge to jump into a camper van and head to the surf..

Sunday Shopping x

You now what you’re meant to do at the start of each season: Gatecrash the party and scoff all the canapes.  But somehow it never happens like that.  Take Sunday afternoon with it’s languid air of relaxation when sofas become blankets and fingers lazily skim across tablets.  And light upon the dream dress. OMG!! That’s it!!..

It’s just like that dress that’s been lying in my great dresses folder in Pinterest for 2 years. OK..not exactly the same..the pockets are missing..the pockets are fab..pockets can always be added.  I love the white, but there’s only the option of blue, red or black.  Red could work.  But it’s a summer dress. You need autumn clothes.  But I’ll need summer clothes next year and WHAT?! Just £45?? It’s in the basket….and do they have any more bits of heaven?

And talking about shirt dresses – Oh my! It’s pure lust. The credit card doesn’t stand a chance.

And not a jumper in sight. Sigh.

Dodo Bar Or

In London we’re still breathing clear blue skies and warm rays. It’s so nice to be able to still look at light, cotton clothes without thinking goosebumps. This label – Dodo Bar Or, headed by actress turned fashion designer Dorit ‘Dodo’ Bar Or is one that unashamedly flaunts all things summer and features on my wish list radar.

Sigh.  There’s what I’m doing in my present.  What I want to do in the future. And all the dreams inbetween.
