Time Travel Style x
A tribute to the new series of Dowton Abbey which started last night – sigh – capturing the essence, admiring the glorious skill, the effortless grace and a sense of unreality:
Jenny Packham SS14.
All photographs by the super talented Jamie Beck from her Anne Street Studio Blog..well worth checking out for stunning visuals.

Goodwood Revival 2013
Sometimes a picture speaks a thousand words and the following are a case in point: Anna, her family and another friend Kate with her family (we Kates get everywhere) all went to Goodwood at the weekend. Dubbed ‘the worlds most magical and unique historic motor racing meet’ it is the only event of its kind to be staged entirely in the nostalgic time capsule of the 1940s, 50s and 60s…the resulting pictures taken by Anna (you can check out her rather brilliant instagram account at annamasonbentleystyle) and members of her group….well….just too jolly good not to share….enjoy!

Soaking up the buzz..Anna street stye.
Size does matter.
The gorgeous Alex Willis-Bray with legs up to her armpits. Check out her great Blog.
After our interview for South West London TV.
Yep. He was taking pictures through his visor…and had yeti chest hair..there’s a fine line between Fashion and Victim.

Last of the Summer x
Transitioning..
It’s easy to feel nostalgic as the summer slowly sinks to it’s demise, but I rather enjoy the dissecting of what worked and finger pointing new desires…
For next summer I’m after loose, 90’s style t-shirt dresses with low v necks, slouchy shoulders and clever rounded pockets.
Where did this come from? But I’m feeling the love for a pair of proper thin leather Roman sandals in WHITE. I think it started with Vanessa Bruno’s SS13 collection and lusting after the heeled gladiators with 3/4 length trousers..
Autumn is almost better than New Year for a fresh start and the urge to turn out unwanted bits, to salvage and re-invent..and my heart is drawn to denim, crystallised, I suspect, by Miu Miu’s iconic SS13 Collection..
The shapes, the nostalgia, the witty lining of duchesse satin ..I completely and utterly fall..and am only caught by the price..
Still, there are a number of 90’s (that era again..) vintage options with great shapes.
This with a pair of Dicker boots..
How gracefully they smoothly integrate into the inevitable downward slide of the thermometer.
Perfect for layering – the ultimate rehearsal clothes..before winter has us in it’s freezing grip..

The Obsession Continues..
Navajo Blanket Coats are not the only fruit. An integral part of Canada’s fashion history is the Hudson Bay Blanket Coat..they hit you right in the imagination..gotta love those pockets..
(Photo from http://www.geekychic.ca)
As an example of love, craftsmanship, necessity and creative courage they are genius.
Looking through pictures you’ll find each one just a little bit different.
Such a simple idea that still packs a punch. Check out www.pointblankets.com for more historical information.
But I likey this tartan blanket coat too with it’s clever use of the fringing.
And that zip-off collar…sigh
Now..where are my scissors……..

Going Green x
Our final hurrah in Portugal was to head away from the sea and go horse riding..
Just off the beaten track, a mere 4 km from Luz, we went to Tiffany’s Riding Centre.
A no frills, wholesome place with a rustic air of contentment.
And a soundscape of dogs (eleven!) and lazy insects.

Tiffany..capable and knowledgeable..salt of the earth..sort of – I started out with nothing..and I still got most of it left..and that’s the way I like it – touch.
The lovely Jasmine, staying for a month before heading back to the UK, looked after Bella. Loved her riding boots – brogue like with a zip up the middle. Ariat’s apparently..could be worth looking up for autumn..
To be still in routine.
In the grounds is an eco-house..if you want to/need to step off the rat-race and can ride a horse, Tiffany and Martin offer the accommodation in return for work. Check out the website Work Aways for more info along with other places offering similar scenarios…there’s a lot to be said for back to basics honest hard labour..and the palpable satisfaction that comes from it…sometimes it’s the simple things that make the memories that dance.
