Collar Worker..
There’s something comforting about wrapping up in a scarf when the weather turns frosty. We’ve been lucky in London so far – today was only the second frost of the season, but I suspect things are on a downward slide colder..
J Crew have some good offerings – particularly their innovative take on fair Isle, but Paul Smith is the true king of the winter neck-tie..
Clever modern twists smoothly integrated into stylish classics..
It’s that subtle joy of being able to buy for the husband..and wear yourself..
Or buy for yourself..and expect to see the other half in it..beautiful and functional equals design at it’s very best..

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star x
Theodora Ware is about the dignity of good design with a fair price – £40 for these beauties.
How much would I love to find a pair of these nestling in my stocking on Christmas day?
There’s nothing shallow or ugly – it’s strong, simple, classic and timeless with just enough attitude for a pair of lacewing flights of fancy..and a little edge..
The sort of pieces I want to treasure forever..

Gotta Head?
Delicious.. x
(Scot Mills on Strictly on Sat)
Who would’ve thought that a TV take on Fester could produce such fertile fashion soil? But then this is Strictly..and I am a fan..
That scarf and the way it’s pinned? it highlights an unexpected similarity to 1920s opera coats, reverencing past angles and structure. I so want to find a faux fur scarf now and add it to my winter coat…and how refreshing to see the perfect vehicle for decadent, vintage broaches…my jewellery box is smiling just at the thought..
The perfect example of the way something unexpected influences the way you process things and sparks the imagination: Looking, liking….lusting. Now the hunt starts…

Free Wheeling..
Oh the yin and yang of life..Did you know Kate Spade’s done a collaboration with Gap?
Children’s gap..
But is a bag size aware??
What size is XXL?
And how much can gloves stretch?
There’s always the fast approaching present list to think of..(or not)
And she’s not forgotten the boys – all of which Charlie and Bella would happily wear..
…But not till I’ve tried them on first…

Led Smith..
Led Zepplin and fashion are not the most obvious bed fellows..but it’s happened. And when you think about it, there’s something gutsy and glorious that links – even draws – them together in thrilling duality.
Six limited edition scarfs designed by Paul Smith using the original art work to celebrate the launch of newly released re-mastered versions of the albums….the first three out on 23 Oct…Timeless, visual flights of fancy all mixed up with a sense of history, marrying beauty with desire..

How cool do they look? And the scarves don’t look bad either..an essential layer of style that twinkles with bonhomie..
Wear them, wrap them – frame them, they’re that good..I want one!

It’s Not You, It’s Me..
I love a brand that scoffs gently..it also helps if they’re independent, based in London, slightly mad and run by 3 ferocious, tongue-in-cheek, epigrammatic gals.
Its not me its you was started by Billi, Jems and Kitty in 2012.

Everything they produce is made and printed by hand in East London.
In a world where it’s too easy to be suffocated by a toxic brew of Vacuous style and pumped up plastic their italian leather crafted with care is a pot of gold at the end of a shimmering rainbow…complete with whimsy and fantastical animals..
Visceral, witty and flawlessly presented, they’re a class act.
(I secretly reckon this one reads ‘Kate loves the fearless’..just for me…)
I snort at them..and raise my glass..that’s a few more presents ticked off the December list..

Making a Point..
Vans. Fail safe, classic and easy…but could there be room for change?
What about pointy Vans like these by Nicholas Kirkwood now viewed from above??
Sneakers with a heel and now sneakers with a point..who would’ve thought it. But this actually feels like a rather nostalgic nod to the once must-wear pointed flats of the eighties..and it’s always nice to find a forward moving mash…

Ace of Spades x
The new twenties inspired arrivals from Kate Spade have warmed the cockles of my magpie heart..
The rings isn’t bad either..
She’s a witty gal, Kate Spade…check out the rest of her range from some pretty cool present ideas…wish I’d thought of her site earlier…hehe!

Stamp of Style x
Using badges and logos..not invented by Marc by Marc Jacobs but cunning all the same…
A rather delicious collection of fonts and styles married to the perfect boyfriend jeans..just add a smile and a killer pair of heels..
Penelope Chilvers has also got in on the act, although is hers a more traditional, preppy version..and the meanings are meaningful..I’d love to be able to buy the patches individually..
Also to be found on her boots and shoes..
Anya Hindmarch has pushed the creative boat out even further in her own offering of luxury-retro-street. Inspired by stickers from her school days, the graphics are embossed onto the leather in a three step process. Utterly edible.
But the real joy is that this trend has it’s roots deep down in freedom of expression and do-it-yourselfs.. you could just follow your heart and DIY your own fashion statement like Fun in the Making..
Or cover a Louis Vuitton bag like the courageous Sue. Because the truth about badges and patches, despite what the designer brands would have us believe, is they’re really about individuality and being unique in a stylish and remarkably accessible way..now, where’s my needle and thread?
