Which Length?

P00092821-Silk-satin-culottes--BUNDLE_1

Culottes by Givenchy..long, strong and structured..but too much of a cropped trouser?

Or these (from ASOS) – the midi long, showing a bit more than just ankle..note the turn up.

Then there’s the short style..cut just below the knee in a looser style (these are by ASOS)

Or the structured short by Top Shop..

Ms. Beckham offers yet another alternative…the cropped, tapered fit..

I’m confused! Which one and why?

I do like her tapered look – just think you might lose a bit of the culotte flare and become more cropped trouser? I think my favourites might be the second one down..although the Top Shop rank pretty high..maybe it has to be two pairs!! Arggghhhhh! xxx

I don’t normally like cropped trousers of any length but the first one – the Givenchy – lovely! Might try, well not Givenchy!! But will look for similar – so thanks for opening my eyes 🙂 Good to wear different things occasionally x

I’ve been wondering whether it’s worth altering a pair of trousers I already have..but what’s interesting with these is the looseness over the hips as well..they do have a very specific shape..but I do think they’re wonderful!! xxx

I think that you need to go longer if you have short legs. The structure of the Givenchy pair is beautiful and would show off your rockin’ Valentino shoes nicely. I feel like a longer, flowy pair might be easier to wear. If you have long legs — show off those toned calves! (which i do have (toned calves), but my being short nixed that idea…..)

Is the appeal of the culotte – even the cropped trouser – the fact it elongates the leg from the ankle up..as if you’re growing out of your shoes?? Food for thought..the structured pairs seem wonderful for ritzy nights out..the looser better for every day? Maybe that’s part of the conundrum..trying to reduce it to one thing, when 2 are needed… xxx

I’m all for the VB version. Culottes are a great concept, but I prefer when they are identifiable as a culotte/short and not a skirt. There’s no real excitement or cleverness in the twist – “hey you thought it was a skirt, but it’s actually culottes”, but there is some excitement in a new trouser length as an excuse to get new trousers.

I also hated that skirt/trouser thing. If I wanted a skirt, I’d buy a skirt! But there’s definitely a definitive shape to these which puts them on the list of lust.. xxx

I’d love to try the second for the length and playful turn up and the third one cause I like wearing skirts just below the knee, so I guess I’d be safe with that one. xxx

I like the way she’s styled that second one with her little cropped biker jacket..so much more appealing than a cropped top! There are some things I will never wear again…! xxx

I just have this feeling they make your legs look like they’re out growing your trousers therefore the optical illusion is they’re longer!! Probably the first sign of madness..but I’m running with it! xxx

I can’t decide between two – the long one by Givenchy or the short one by ASOS. The way they flow makes them more elegant, but I guess whichever length I would choose depends on the top I’m wearing, and also how cold it is at that time of year!

Givenchy by far the nicest, and they seem like they’d make a satisfying noise too :- Then the Asos pair that follows but got to be careful they don’t like those weird hybrid flowing items Armani does sometimes–or maybe you like those. Me not so much) The others look too corporate American for me, especially Beckham. Like that boardroom lady who wanted to wear a summer dress but the men in the office might frown and she won’t get the promotion…know what I mean?

The Asos ones would worry me that they might go all parachute like in a strong breeze..I like the satin for evenings..but I want a sort of vintage mens trouser with pleats but in culottes for every day…too much to ask?! Beckham ones are too like bermudas for me..want the A-line shape..can see a long hunt for these babies.. xxx

Swaying towards the Top Shop satin pair..rather loving the more structured shape. What I really need to do is go and try a pair on with a pair of shoes I can walk in!…actually…one for highs, one for sneakers…naughty! but oh so nice! xxx

I love the Givenchy pair but all of them will require some heels to pull off. My fear is that I would end up looking like an old lady from Florida in that shorter length. Perhaps a palazzo pant length, I’m not so sure about the ankle length though. Maybe with nude socks? (hee hee)
