I spy…
(Penelope Chilvers)
Espadrilles! Perfect to wear with the new trouser length, their artisanal chic shouts style-without-even-trying.
(Dolce and Gabbana)
In the Season of ugly shoes, the espadrille walks in the shadow of the Birk, never quite leading the way…but always there.
(Fendi)
But from it’s humble position on sea-side kiosks and dusty holiday shops, it’s now been elevated to celestial heights and given the full make-over.
(Stella McCartney)
I can’t help but think – if what’s special about them is they’re colours and added bits….surely they make the ideal canvas for a DIY project?
(Tory Burch)
Cheap as chips to buy, easy to accessorise – no great financial risk if it all goes tits up – the only real limit is your daring and imagination with the end result equalling a stunning, original piece of your summer wardrobe…
(Missioni Mare)
Makes me think – shall we have a DIY Espadrille Competition????
Laters, Kate x
The Missoni Mare for me please!!
I’m a sucker for that pattern.. xxx
I do love espadrilles ;p
They are almost made of the earth..something timeless and effortless.. xxx
they are so effortless and timeless. I’m glad they are back in fashion 🙂
i want the leather culottes.
Without seeing that picture I would never’ve thought of putting them with espadrilles..but the result! xxx
Love it, love it! Espadrilles are my favourite shoe since… ever.
I think they even smell of summer..warm hay!! (rather than smelly feet!!) xxx
Hmmm… DIY espadrilles you say??? I’m game…xxx
Whooo hooo! I’ll make it official with another post! xxx
Excellent!!! I’m going to think up some clever ideas!!!! Xxx
Love espadrilles!, so cool! Specially the Tory burch ones! Xx

That edging is amazing..love the colour combo.. xxx
I love espadrilles, especially flats! So French! 🙂
I’m going to have to get a pair this summer..it’s just a matter of choosing..or making! xxx
Wow! you make them?
Are they in style again – of course they never go out of style but you know what I mean.
Yes! They’ll be big this summer..comfort and style – yay! Unfortunately I can’t make them..but I’m going to buy a simple, cheap pair and accessorise them..in fact we’re going to have a Blog competition (post to follow on Monday) to see who can do the best! xxx
I would happily wear all of them ! ❤
Wouldn’t that be nice..and different pair for every day of the week! xxx
I love those Dolce and Gabbanas… I won’t even bother to look at the price tag though… extraordinary for some rope and canvas I’m sure! Now that I’m thinking, I haven’t actually owned a pair of espadrilles for years! xxx
I think the time has come to get yourself a cheap pair and get creative! xxx
Yes, as espadrilles are beautifully made of canvas, let’s have a DIY competition to express on them our artistic sensibilities ! xxxxx
Yay! Another willing volunteer!! I will do an official post and give us all enough time to buy our pairs to work on! xxx
Dolce and Gabbana once are my favorites!
They also have some really pretty ones covered in blossom..but the denim sort of stole my heart! xxx
Do it, you guys, Kate and all those who commented before me and are up for the challenge! Put me to shame. An Espadrille Fashion Face Off, I love it! xx
Hope you’re going to join us!! – I hear making espadrilles is very therapeutic!! xxx
I’m not a big fan of espadrilles but I do like the Stella McCartney and Missioni ones!
http://sadityinthecity.com
They didn’t do it for me until I saw that picture with the cropped leather culottes..game changer! xxx
LOL yes! We should have a DIY shoe painting party!!
Yay! Another participant..I will make it official! xxx
I have high heel espadrilles…do they count? Me for the first pair. Perfect.
Absolutely! With the gorgeous ankle ties? Can never resist a bow me… xxx
Something about espadrilles and huraches. I wore out many many a pair. And I adore anything that ties around the ankle. I was blessed with dishy ankles.
It’s fun how espadrilles just keep coming back. I’m old enough to remember many incarnations! You found some great ones here.
I always think the best things are timeless..once they’ve stood that test of time and survived, they’ll last forever.. xxx
I ‘m not fan of such shoes, even so they are so comfy, but first one the best
Even in that first picture? It’s what changed it all for me..I was dubious..then i was sold! xxx
I have late splash as always:))) maybe next year I will appreciate it:))))
Good idea, the thing I notice is though …..those fabulous versions have a nice leather piece next to the sole of your feet instead of the hessian. Does that explain their extra cost?!? Lol
Good spot..as much as I love labels..£250 for espadrilles even with a leather sole? I think I’ll look and take inspiration! You up for the challenge talented one?! xxx
Hehe! Absolutely! I think I have a head start……denim ones….one euro in France!
Never worn as too boring! The challenge is on, hahaha
I’m jealous!!!!! The heat is ON!! xxx
Do you think I need mine to co ordinate with Eiffel Tower blouse or is that a bit toooooooo much matchymatchy ???? I could search for a charm something! Hahaha
Yes!!! co-ordinate! co-ordinate! xxx
I have re blogged you! This could be fun! ☀️☀️☀️
I love espadrilles! They are chic, fun and youthful. Why didn’t we have more of them before? Let’s bring them back to the front line this season 😉 xxx
Yay! Long live the espadrille! xxx
Reblogged this on Sew Deputy and commented:
I bet we all have some espadrilles in our cupboard we could customise!
Are you up for it?
I have some denim ones from France that were a euro……can you feel an Eiffel Tower pair coming on!!??
I feel stupid for asking this, but how do you pronounce that..? :-\
