Button up.. x
Pheobe Philo has done it again. With her Fall 14 RTW Collection, she’s stood outside the circle and injected that tiny little something which like the flapping of a butterflies wing, goes on to rock the very foundation stone of perceived style: Should buttons by symmetrical?
I’m a symmetry girl me: Don’t get me wrong – I love the unexpected, I embrace the fun…but buttons? Don’t they look like a mistake if they’re out of alignment?…or not…? (And there’s that one earring thing to contend with too..)
Quirky or subverted? A quiet act of rebellion or just plain wrong? A new signature out of the trap of mediocrity and a new escape route from containment?…or does it actually make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end?
Or is this the phase where you first look in horror…then slowly digest…before finally realising it’s the best thing since sliced bread? (those shoes!)
Or are their some things that even the great Pheobe Philo can’t change…?
Laters, Kate x

This is clearly a fantastic act of rebellion. The quiet revolutions are the strongest ones … xxxxx
I’m going to be interested to see if it catches on…the graffiti brush strokes certainly has! xxx
Life should always be buttoned up wrong….in my opinion. Xxx
I’d expect no less! xxx
I like this asymmetry of buttons. It gives a coat more special and interesting look. xxx
I will admit I’m totally wavering..I wasn’t sure, then I sort of got it..then I saw the last picture with the symmetry and felt like someone had played the resolving chord in a beautiful piece of music… xxx
LoVe it, just like the yellow.
Agree – maybe that’s what I’ll take from this – yellow buttons are cool! xxx
Love the buttons and earrings. Less keen on the sandals!
The earring I’m not sure..I like it that earrings frame the face..I think I would be concerned too many people would come up and tell me I’d lost one! xxx
Yeah. I know what you mean and they (being scientists) say that asymmetry is unattractive…x
Good question! I think it looks great in the tailored pieces. A little bit of structure makes it look quirkily deliberate and rebellious. But on the melange cardigan pieces I think it looks sloppy and faux naive. I’ll take look 3 and leave look 1. Cheers, do you need my shipping address? xo
Hehe! I think you might’ve cracked it re materials..loving the yellow..interested by the coats..but I get resolution with the final picture..I think I’m opting out of this one..maybe time will be the persuader!! xxx
Love the shoes. I like a bit of asymmetry but like my buttons down the middle. Xx
I’m going to see if Doc Martens have anything similar – they’ve so upped their game recently.. xxx
I like the asymmetry except for the first picture. However, the one earring is bothering me.
One earrings remind me of pirates, which is never a good look!! xxx
Genius idea genially executed !
She always manages that little tweek..but the last coat..I think it has my heart… xxx
