Flutter by..
The Butterfly is appearing everywhere – McQueen, Valentino and here – with this stunning silk jacquard skirt by the New York label Tome that you just want to touch and treasure. I love the way it’s been styled with the long gloves against the short, loose v-necked cashmere jumper.
Freedom, innocence, peace, good luck, nature, femininity…the butterfly is a powerful symbol throughout the world.
(Cinemagraph from Anne Street Studio..the founders of the Art of Cinemagraph)
But there’s also it’s fragile beauty and delicate symmetry. No wonder we humans are obsessed with capturing it’s heart and soul, if only in an ethereal Cinemagraph. This butterfly was let lose after it’s photoshoot, into the wilds of Manhattan because true beauty should only be admired….

That green jacquard is pretty lush Kate!x
I think it needs to be captured and put in m closet!
Yes it does! 🙂
The Tome collection looks very interesting — Jackie Mallon had a great post about them (the designers are friends of hers). The butterfly is a gorgeous and elusive being, bringing lightness and joy to life. Perhaps, that is why designers pull their shape and pattern into their collections. XO
Oooh! I’ve been slack this week – on catch up – wish I’d seen her post and her pictures were far better than mine! x
I’m drooling!!
Check out their Collection – there’s a stunning little shift dress as well..lustful..

Awwwww and I like Revlon as a drug store brand. Thanks for sharing
Oh, another “butterfly” masterpiece and a lovely Cinemagraph with delicate lilac colours ! xxxxx
And how could I forget Galliano!! But it is a special beast..
Love it…… and the designs are pretty lovely and wearable.
I think the colour is unexpected which adds to the allure..
I’ve only just discovered Anne Street Studio….totally hooked. A beautiful concept. x
They are a wonderfully creative couple – their Blog is a joy!
Oh….my heart stopped when I saw him trapped….thank goodness they set him free…. Butterflies are the souls of those who have been well loved I was once told. Very special to many of us….
thankfully only trapped in time – and in my Media library forever! x

I had a look at the close up..the pattern is all beautifully woven in like a proper piece of old-fashioned cloth..makes it even more special.. x
I didn’t realised it was wings of butterflies until I’ve read the post. They look gorgeous, don’t they? It is very opulent and Baroque! xxx
If you look really closely at the material, the very centre is two butterflies that then turn into the recurring wings..so clever.. xxx
I love how brilliant and rich the pattern is- so beautiful and romantic!
Apart from the modern cut of the skirt it’s almost as if it’s from another era of long-lost skill..timeless.. xxx
Into the wilds of Manhattan? Poor butterfly! 😉
Hehe..does it help that it was a native and was joining it’s mummy and daddy?!! x
Such beautiful imagery! I’ve always been fascinated by the intricacy of butterfly patterns.

I think this has to be one of the best butterfly patterns I’ve seen just because you need to look so closely..it could almost be fish scales or feathers..but it’s not! xxx
Abstract patterns always inspire me and your post always help me to be inspired. Thanks.
