Winter is Coming..

I freely admit I am behind the curve on the whole Game  of Thrones phenomena.  Forsooth, I only devoured my first box set after New Year..but I’m learning fast.  The obessesion has bitten and Season 2 is already underway – of course the joy of coming late to the party? There’s no horrible wait for next Seasons to start (yet)..they’re all lined up like the most delectable dishes at a banquet.  But it’s not only the storyline, I’m also smitten by the fashions..and it’s the men’s rather than the ladies: The leather, the studding, the macho winter layering and enormous shaggy shoulders.  I lust.  A little bit of searching revealed that Helmut Lang’s 2012 Fall Collection was inspired by the series.  And how very very appropriate it looks as the Polar Vortex attempts to do it’s worst.  I’d bet good gold that that sheepskin coat above would be ready to fight beside any wolf in a storm…

(A touch of the Katniss Everdeens? I wonder what came first?)

And then there’s Chloe Pre-fall 2014, showing that layering can be warm, furry and coloured. Might need a pair of woolly tights though..

For this night..and all nights to come..

I totally get where you are coming from re the men’s attire on Game of Thrones, especially Jon Snows wardrobe …..all black leather and feathers and fur. I’m eagerly awaiting season 3 to be released from Lovefilm after finding it late on too (how I missed all that raunch! I’ll never know!) x

It was Jon Snow I had in mind when choosing these! But I also love the Kings Landing wear..the belts studded with brass and the extra long length (wey hey!) so they’re flipped back over to hang down..if you get my drift! And some of the scale like leather work on the soldiers uniforms..really something xxx

I have recently become a huge fan of Helmut Lang. I bought a sweater from his last collection that has fast become a favorite. The pictures above are truly gorgeous I love the fur vest type things 😉 I have not seen any of the game of thrones episodes but I think I have to purchase the series now that I have finished all four seasons of the Tudors. Really enjoying all the lovely fashion tidbits you are sharing with us these days. Xxx

Ohh! Me too! I came also late to the whole GoT thing, but yet so early that it is going to be one year waiting for the next season. I love the costumes. Michele Clapton made a great work designing all those different lines, each of them unique and precious and matching so well the universe of each clan. The wardrobes of the Starks and the Night’s Watch men are definitely my favorite too, but in another line, also the fabulous dresses xxxx* wears later in the series.
    * “xxxx” stays for I name I deleted because I didn’t want to be a spoiler, when it is about GoT knowing that someone will live in a later season is too much information, you’ll come to it and you will see 🙂

Jon Snow *sigh*. Adore the black leather & sheepskin coat, that would be perfect for keeping me warm & stylish for 2014. And that black dress with the leather detailing – COVET!

I can’t believe someone actually did that with those boots. It’s amazing.

You know what I would like? I would like to go on a winter fashion holiday. You turn up, your personal stylist hands you a winter suitcase, and then as you tour about you look fabulous in all your holiday shots.

Singapore’s nice, but not for winter fashions.

Oh we got hooked on GoT a while ago, then I rushed off and read all the books (as I got too impatient to know what happens) which took while as they are doorstoppers in length (thank goodness for the kindle) and was thinking, right, when’s the next book due…apparently it took Mr Martin 5 YEARS to write the last book. I was gutted. Can’t wait that long for my next hit. Agree, the mens fashion is great, I too am all for black leather, fur and feathers. I just opened the new Selvedge magazine today and some contributors are asked for their fav costume design, one says Kallisi from GoT – I could go with that too (if I had her body, of course!) Bethx

Gorgeous leather pieces. I finally watched Cloud Atlas over Christmas and spent most of the movie obsessing over the knitwear and making mental notes to find my fat 80s needles and start knitting again! Xx

Stunning pieces! I love the Chloe coats, they make winter look fun. As for the game of thrones, I was one of those late to the party but got so obsessed, I’m also waiting for the next season. How do you manage to pace yourself? hehe!

One episode a night (OK. two!) till the Seasons run out then catching up on all the Sherlocks I’ve missed on inlayer..and then we have the box set of Breaking Bad…another obsession could start! x

Tom fed me the Game of Thrones books in dribs and drabs, cleverly controlling my obsession… He felt the full force of my dismay when I got to the end of the most recent book and discovered the next one isn’t even written yet. Thank goodness for the tv series! Jx

Sensible man! I’m hoping (against hope) that my timings will work to perfection..catch up on the box sets..then read the books..then have Season 4 ready and waiting! I’m worried if they take too long the cast will be old and haggard before it’s finished!! x
