Trick or Treat?
(picture from pinterest)
The perfect party skirt has to be the jewel in the crown this party-hopping season, acting like a human Christmas tree, catching the sparkle and reflecting back the smiles and giddy moments. In the haute spot is Burberry with their mermaid inspired work of art – enough to make the most bah-humbug joy-squasher gimlet eyed with misty desire..
Also working in the skirt corner is the ability to mix the well-heeled refined with the everyday low: tactile jumpers or denim or even t-shirts on top….contrasting the glittering below..cocktail mixes of opposites that create a long drink of inherently cool pleasure..
Sequins just too eighties? How about the pared back elegance that is metallic leather? Easily teamed with white when the sun comes out again, this Maje skirt will even carry you on a silver ray of light all the way through to summer..
And don’t forget the high street – if red wine and dancing on the tables are your party tricks of choice, maybe fake is the way to go..
But faux or real, trick or treat..the choice is yours..

I saw the first skirt when I was noodling around for a post I am writing about Burberry. Gorgeous, isn’t it! The second skirt is as lovely and perhaps more versatile. LOVE!
Each season I think how could I just choose one item? And then something materialises..for me, it’s this skirt..and Peter Pilotto..the cape coat..I’m going to watch the sales in Jan…just in case… xxx
I see… you are a mother of siren(s).
Temptation is my middle name! xxx
Each year I promiss myself to make a ‘Christmes special’ skirt or dress .. these are great ideas. I think I will start already in January – maybe then I finish it on time 😉
And you’ll probably get loads of sparkly stuff in the sales! It’s funny – for so long, sparkles was tainted by the eighties..but now..it’s all coming back! xxx
LOVE!😊
Sigh..that texture..those colours.. xxx
I want that skirt on Olivia Palermo, even if it will sit in my wardrobe without being worn forever!
Anami, xx
I’ll fight yer for it! xxx
I love that top skirt too, I wouldn’t have anywhere to wear it but I would love to have it 🙂
I do like the way things high and low are mixed..means you can wear this skirt with a sweatshirt and sneakers to buy a pint of milk..or is that just very London?! xxx
haha! No, I think it’s perfectly acceptable, if it were in Brighton, I could guarantee that no heads would turn, unless it were to admire it. 😉 xx
I want to be a Burberry mermaid!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this!
That green with the blue…mermaid colours through and through…
I would have to lose half my body weight to look good in it. Nothing over 5 stone will suit it – and it would be so expensive I would probably have to take out insurance on it. But I think I could make these little sacrifices for that kind of gorgeousness… 🙂 xx MH
All of them!!! I want ALL of them!!
Hehe..oh for a lottery win! xxx
These are all unbelievably gorgeous
In my dreams, this post is my wardrobe…sigh! xxx
festive&fabulous,…bring it on – red wine and dancin!!
That’s where I’ll be tonight! I will raise a large red to you..in my outfit inspired by this post – green sequin skirt and navy cashmere roll neck and green kitten heels..point me in the direction of those tables! xxx
Most of these skirts would be very easy to copy. Make your own.
