Dame Viv…

Dame Vivienne Westwood is a high ceiling where thoughts and dreams drift upwards and average or ordinary would be a rude word.  So is it surprising that at the age of 72 she’s shorn off her trademark titian hair?

‘Vivienne cut her hair as we all must wake up to climate change’ a spokesperson said, adding ‘And secondly, she wanted to cut the red out for a while and have it white to show she’s proud of her age.’  Westwood is known as an active climate campaigner – indeed, last month she said she wouldn’t be expanding her empire in order to concentrate on backing Greenpeace’s work to protect the Arctic – but somehow, the age bit has greater resonance recognising that the way you look is a hyper-potent source of expression.  More than visual bravado it says it’s not beauty in the classical sense that matters, but talent, integrity, intelligence and style.

Unique in a sea of sheep, she will always present the stuff that makes people feel uncomfortable..and she’ll do it smiling with mischievous pleasure.  Just like those boots she’s wearing.

Both ladies look great! I’m so glad this trend of embracing one’s natural looks and age is gaining ground… been part of this family for the past five years or so and never looked back! xxx

Have you gone short as well or remained with flowing locks? There was a time when it was considered indecent for women past 40 to have long hair..now – what ever suits you goes! Dame Judy Dench is another one with a fabulous short crop xxx

No, actually once I gave up on finding a shade that would not turn orange after a couple of shampoos and decided that grey highlights are (way) better, my hair started growing stronger and healthier, enough to let long! So here I am, a nature’s child approaching 50 and loving silver! Mmm, how indecent! 😉 xxx
        PS: I.Love.Judy.Dench’s short crop! Perfection!

What an incredibly strong woman Vivienne Westwood is ! She stays true to herself no matter what, and her last dramatic metamorphosis is no exception ! We should look up to modern goddesses like her to live honestly and age gracefully ! xxxxx

Thank you for a follow up class discussion from last week’s! Of course, Westwood! Why didn’t I think of that? May I be as gorgeously barmy at her age! And here’s to the Laura Lynn effect! Stunner that she is xo

It’s odd – I’ve been thinking about it since the McQueen post..there was no falling at the font of beauty there, it was all strength and fierceness..which somehow seems rather wonderful! xxx

Wow, I thought I was lost when I saw my photo there. One of my favorite selfies too! And to be posted with Le Grand Dame Viv…I die! Yes, my hair is growing out now and even better? It has come back thicker and stronger (much like my figure) This post was so beautifully timed as I was just leaning out my window looking at the moon and wondering what my next step was going to be…inspiration is a beautiful thing Kate! Hugs to all of you lovely ladies. And to Kate!

Loving the headdress. Vivienne Westwood has always been up there for me, she cares, but she doesn’t care, if you know what I mean. A real woman that isn’t afraid not to conform. X
