Cushions with a touch of vintage..

Slipping in an extra post for the lovely Rubyfoot who was wondering what to do with her  scarfs…and for the wonderful Lizzie at the vintage traveller who has just been given a beautiful scarf!

These pictures are from a project Anna and I did last summer when we were experimenting with vintage..there is an amazing stall in Portabello Market that just sells silk scarves, we trawled the rails to unearth the best to turn into cushions…when you see the beauty of some of the designs (the still life is one of my favourites) you appreciate they really are works of art and should be admired in their full glory.

It does give them a new lease of life rather than living in a drawer..and they’re certainly a talking point! And I’m thinking a bit of haberdashery trim wouldn’t go amiss… xxxxxxxxxx

We backed these on felt, but a heavy linen would also work – really fragile ones can be supprted/backed with wonda web and finally – worth working out sizes in advance and working to the standard cushion pad sizes. A complimentary group of them mixed with a few identical plain ones does look incredible… Xxxxx

Great idea, I hadn’t thought of this either. They look fab. The backing you mentioned above is really important… I turned a bunch of these into a quilt cover years ago but I didn’t back them and it was flimsy… Not so great.

hmmmm – I’m liking the idea of a quilt…very versace..or not – depending on scarves bought…will put that one in the mind box! x

Oh how lovely to come here and find myself being mentioned in a most flattering way! I love the pillows. I might have a few around here somewhere that I could use for that purpose…

Hello MasonBentley & thevintagetraveler, I supposed the hyperlink on this post was accidentally linked to mine – thevintagetraveller, for some reason. As I do not want to take credit for something that’s not me, hope this clarifies.

P.S. You both have wonderful blogs!
