A Family Wonder Event x
On Saturday we had an early Christmas present..a family day out at the Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park courtesy of ‘Fairy’, Bella and Charlie’s wonderful Godmother. Such a brilliant idea…memories are so much better than bits…honestly, she is the best!
We all went ice skating on the Wonderland ice rink and watched Charlie demonstrate his natural kamikaze skills..
And Bella showed her elegance. They both have regular lessons so they left us for dust.
We couldn’t have picked a better day.
We’d been before – 2 years ago..but this year was different. The traditional was everywhere, like this fire pit..specially designed for roasting marshmallows..how special?!
Charlie and Bella with Fairy doing just that!
Which meant there was always a sweet smell of smoke on the air mixed with mulled wine and chocolate….
Who needs to go to Germany when Germany’s in London?
There were also playthings for the adults..depending on how many bratwurst sausages you’d eaten..and how much you minded them repeating..
We also had a very funny trip into the freezing Magical Ice Kingdom to see the ice sculptures (NB There’s also an ice bar..cheaper than a trip to the infamous Ice Hotel)….but apologies..all my pics are blurred as I was laughing too much….at the end is an ice slide….suffice to say unless you had the right coat on (Fairy) it was more of a bottom shuffle (Husband)…
It was a delicious, delightful, delectable day to savour for a long, long time..
Kisses to our amazing Fairy! – memories are made of this.
Laters, Kate x

glad you had such a jolly time and the weather was just perfect 🙂 very nice pics!
After all the rain we’ve been having..we were SO lucky! x
What a magical Saturday you had ! When I’m feeling down, I’ll look at these fairy shots to cheer me up ! Love Bella’s sense of style, Charlie’s huge smile and, of course, the Dark Chocolates with Mint ! xxxxx
We had such a battle with that lady before we left..she refused point blank to wear a coat. Threat of not going eventually worked BUT we got there late..not that the coat lasted very long during ice skating, however in the ice kingdom it was FREEZING and got colder and colder through the day…I did get her to admit that Mummy is always right……hmmmmmmmm xxx
Such days are a treasure for ever to remember.Especially when the kids are young, later it is not the same anylonger. And kids are growing fast.
Have a nice week.xxx
It’s true..these are the special years when they still believe in Christmas xxx

Till the 5 Jan – just closed xmas day – from 10 am till 10 pm (best time to go is in the morning as it does get rammed!) xxx
Thanks, I think we will have to check it out when we get to London xx
o wow, another fair. I can’t believe it’s winter wonderland already!! wish I was there. Thanx for sharing your lovely photos
We are spoilt..there’s another one at the South Bank as well… xxx
i will just have to enjoy the fair through you and your family x
Bless you! x
What a gorgeous day. I love the marshmallow roasting pit, what a good idea!
Super cool! It was those touches..the piles of waiting wood, the warmth, the embracing the chalet style that really made it..that and the children laughing!..mainly at my inability to skate… xxx
Fantastic Day! Your Fairy Godmother is fabulous! Where are the kids skating in London? I can only think of Queens Ice & Bowl.
At Christmas we have various rinks that pop up – Somerset House, Natural History Museum, Tower of London (!) and here – I’m sure there could be more..but generally the kids go – rather went – it was the last one last week – to Brixton where they had a temporary rink till the rink at Streatham was re-built..first skate there this Sunday! xxx
This sounds so fun!! I need to have more days like this! 😉

Good old fashioned fun day out! Lovely. Great pics. Poor old ted and his roasted nuts! Hilarious xx
Oh that naughty British sense of humour!
Your kids look adorable and your photos are great as usual. I haven’t been to Winter Wonderland this year yet. I must drop in when I am nearby (^-^) X
Go early!! The crowds by the end were slightly brain frying…but the stalls were beautiful..and some excellent food…AND best mulled wine EVER..laced with – never had it before but it was a revelation..Ameretto! xxxx
This looks like the best day ever! The skating really speaks to me–in my next life, I’ll be a great skater. And the candy and chocolates look amazing!
From a chocolate girl that is praise indeedy! The ice skating does make me laugh..and it’s always so heart warming to see your kids doing something better than you..as it should be xxxxx
Gorgeous. Bella’s outfit is straight out of Fame and I admit I’m a bit jealous!
Those leg warmers come out every sunday for her lesson and make me chuckle..I wonder when the leg warmer trend will rear it’s head again..has to happen some time! xxx
As usual your photography really brought everything to life…chocolates, lollies, hot cocoa, marshmallows, Ice skating, fresh air and sunshine…it really reminds me of being young! So HUGS to you, what a great feeling!
The day surpassed all expectations..if I’m honest, we Brits can be a bit tacky when it come to events like this..the German element made it sublime and I LOVED it! xxxxx
I man I have to go to this. I left London the morning of the Winter Wonderland opening 😦
Big mistake. Huge!!
No your pics are wondeful!… the colours, the smells, the joy… are all here! I was under the weather these days, your fairytale of a post cheered me up!
